Sia-siakah semua peluh yang tercurah
semua otot yang meregang tegang
kerongkongan yang meranggas kering
dan hati yang diperas habis..

Hanya karena goda sesaat
dan silap sekejap melihat mereka
yang bebal tak berakal?

Ah, tubuh yang tercabik-cabik
sampai melepas nyawa di tiang itu,
tidak pernah berucap percuma..

Sam-el Ladh

Hari ini aku mendapat tiga berita duka dari tiga belahan bumi
yang berbeda. Yang pertama, wafat dengan tenang di hari tuanya
yang tenteram. Yang kedua, meninggal tiba-tiba ketika sedang
asyik bermain bridge dengan teman-temannya sesama pensiunan.
Yang ketiga, seorang muda yang tewas dalam kecelakaan sepeda
motor di siang hari bolong.

Ah, manusia fana.

I don’t have too many friends. I meet a lot of people, but only a few really become my friends. I just realized that yesterday, when in a camp for Shine Youth in Jogja, an old friend of mine told a story about how he prayed for me to be what I am now.

It’s nice to have friends. But you know what, it’s great to have a friend that actually prays for you, not only mention your name casually, but actually prays for you. Thank you my friend. You wouldn’t believe it if I tell you that you have blessed me so much that day.

So, I have decided to pray for my friends at the end of this day, and this song by Michael W. Smith is a perfect companion.
